I began playing baseball when I was six years old. I was fortunate enough to have new equipment whenever I needed it. As the years went on, I would need different size bats and of course I out grew my shoes and gloves too. I would get a season out of my equipment then I would give it to a younger friend or the local baseball organizations for those who did not have equipment. I would go to my friends’ homes and see garages filled with barely used equipment and thought why should it just sit there. I put together a plan to make a bigger collection than just my equipment and donate it to children, organizations and clubs that could use it. Parents were appreciative as it cleaned out their garages. Coaches loved the idea too and organizations/clubs were happy to clear out their storage. I am now in High School and my team and school are also supportive. I didn’t realize how fast it would grow and decided to give it a name, LUKE’S LOCKERS. The community was so generous that I needed help to distribute the equipment. I came across Pitch In For Baseball and joined forces with them. I now handle the collections and with the help of Pitch In For Baseball take care of distributing equipment to boys and girls in the United States and around the world who want to play ball but lack the equipment to do so.
